Kathy Munro's bird list for South Woods

Hello, my name is Kathy, I live on the south side of South Woods. I have been feeding the birds and have set up my yard as a habitat. I have a ten thousand gallon Koi pond in my back yard, a great place for birds to water and bath. I have been watching the birds for years now and have recorded the different species that visit my yard yearly. Here is my list: I

Yearly Feeders:
Birds of Prey:

Cooper's Hawk

The Cooper's Hawk hangs around in the trees across the street, hiding from the Crows. I always know when he is around, they make such a fuss.

Sharp-shinned Hawk

Merlin Falcon

The Merlin Falcon is a daily visitor. He soars through the yard hunting small song birds or sits on the tree sunning himself. They hunt my yard, and return to the South Woods. I also observe Bald and Golden Eagles roosting in the tall trees. The eagles use the trees as take off spots for their young when teaching them to fly. I have seen about 12-14 eagles soaring above the South Woods for hours before flying south. It was the largest colony I have seen together. I believe they were all immature or young eagles hanging out together.
